Mark of the Potter

"An interesting shop of contemporary crafts" since 1969

Mark of the Potter is considered the oldest pottery store in Georgia. At Mark of the Potter you will experience the intersection of art and nature where local artist produce and sell American made functional pottery. History lives on in this 1930’s corn grinding mill that overlooks the Soque River where “giant” pet trout happily await a feeding from our clients.

About Mark of the Potter

Mark of the Potter commenced operations in the Spring of 1969, located in what was formerly known as Grandpa Watt’s grist mill. While the mill wheel halted decades ago, our skilled potters diligently work at their wheels creating exceptional pieces for our gallery. We have six potters employed at our shop and source pottery from an additional 30 potters, primarily from the southeast region. The diverse array of styles ensures that our selection remains fresh and continually evolving. Our collection includes a variety of functional ware and an assortment of distinctive decorative items. Visit us to discover your new favorite coffee mug and other unique treasures. We are situated on scenic Highway 197 along the beautiful Soque River. Purchase a pot and enjoy feeding the trout!
